Why Juice Filling Is More Complex Than Water
While water can be filled at room temperature using simple gravity, juice presents several challenges: viscosity (especially pulpy juices), microbial growth risk, flavor preservation, and often the need for shelf stability without artificial preservatives. These factors determine the filling technology you must choose.
The two dominant approaches are hot-fill (heat the juice to sterilize it, then fill into hot bottles) and aseptic cold-fill (sterilize both product and packaging separately, fill in sterile environment). Each has distinct trade-offs in cost, taste retention, and equipment complexity.
